Lake Effect was born from a love of the lake — and everything that comes with it. Nestled in Excelsior, MN, right on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, we're a boutique built for the active, outdoorsy, lake-loving community we call home.

Our story started in April 2016, when owner Danielle opened our doors with a simple mission: to create a shop that reflected the lake life she'd always loved. Growing up boating and spending summers on Lake Minnetonka and her family's cabin in Leland, Michigan, Danielle wanted to bring that same magic — the smell of sunscreen, the sound of water, the feeling of a perfect summer day — to everyone who walked through our doors.

What started as a boutique dedicated to the boating lifestyle, nautical-themed goods, and unique gifts has grown into something even more. We've evolved into a destination for active lifestyle apparel — think golf, pickleball, athletic wear, and lake-ready looks — while keeping the carefully curated gifts and home décor our customers have loved from the very beginning.
