The city of Castle Danger along the shoreline of Lake Superior was founded by three Norwegian fisherman. The origin of the name is unknown, although it might have come from the rocky cliffs on the shore that resemble a castle; from a boat named Castle that grounded nearby, or from the Walter Scott novel Castle Dangerous. No matter the reason behind the city name, we're drawn to Castle Danger as a mile marker toward the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and for it's local suds.

This design is painted on our Voyageur Heritage Paddle. With an elegantly traditional blade shape these are graceful in and out of the water. They’re perfect for lazy turns around the lake or for gracing the wall of your cabin. Each is a laminated combination of western red cedar, aspen and black walnut.
